Scholarships for Incoming Students

DATASCI Scholarships

UNC Asheville’s Data Analytics Training and Scientific Computing Initiative (DATASCI) Scholars Program prepares students for successful careers in astronomy, computer science, mathematics, physics, and statistics. Funding from the National Science Foundation provides scholarships for 31 students over a six-year period. You can find more information at https://cs.unca.edu/datasci/.

 

Scholarships for Current Students

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics provides various scholarship opportunities for our currently enrolled majors. Details of the available scholarships and their eligibility criteria are outlined below. To apply, submit your application via the Scholarship Portal on OnePort, accessible starting March 1. Jan Green Endowed Scholarships and Joseph M. Parsons Scholarships

Criteria:

  • Declared math major.
  • Awarded on the basis of merit and need.

 

Jane Oliver Swafford Endowed Scholarships

Criteria:

  • Rising junior or senior.
  • Declared math major.
  • Awarded on the basis of merit and not need.
  • Preference given to female students. 

 

Martha Game Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Candidates are required to be admitted to the University’s Teacher Licensure Program.
  • Candidates are required to be seeking a Teacher Licensure in mathematics for any grade level or certification.
  • Candidates are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average greater than or equal to 3.0.
  • Candidates are preferred to demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
